A tour that takes you from your hotel in Marrakech to explore the desert, villages, and mountainous regions of the vast Moroccan Sahara. During this excursion, you will cross mountain passes with views stretching for miles, visit kasbahs, and enjoy a camel ride in Merzouga across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. There’s nothing more spectacular than spending a night in a Bedouin camp. This experience allows you and your group to admire the stars, witness the sunset and sunrise on a camel ride, and see hundreds of kasbahs. The tour concludes in the enchanting city of Fez.
In the first part of the tour, participants will gather at designated pick-up points in Marrakech, and we will journey through the High Atlas Mountains. The roads here are often steep, offering breathtaking views. The drive from Marrakech to the Dades Valley will take approximately six hours.
Next, we will head down to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Much of the marketplace here will be guided, and there are many fascinating items to discover in the fortified souk.
We will pass through the desert oasis of Skoura and visit the Valley of Roses. Our tour will then continue along a route where you can see the famous 1001 Kasbahs. The first night will be spent in a hotel in the Dades Valley, with dinner served at the Dades Valley Hotel.
The second day of this adventure begins with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a four-hour drive to Merzouga. Along the way, there will be an opportunity to stop in the small town of Tinghir, take a stroll through the Todra Oasis, and visit the stunning canyons before heading to the towns of Erfoud and Rissani. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we will be greeted by a camel caravan. At this point, we’ll enjoy a one-hour camel ride through the dunes of Erg Chebbi, timed perfectly to coincide with the Saharan sunset. We will then camp overnight in a Bedouin camp in the desert.
The third day of this adventurous tour in the Moroccan desert will be dedicated to enjoying Merzouga. We will start with breakfast at the hotel and have the opportunity to swim in the hotel’s pool. There will be free time to explore the various activities available in the desert region, and we will enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel, with a delicious dinner to end the day. There are many activities to choose from, such as quad biking, dune buggy rides, and cycling, but these will be at your own expense.
We will rise early to witness the sunrise, followed by breakfast before making a stop in Midelt, known as the “Apple City.” Our next stop will be in Ifrane, often referred to as “Little Switzerland,” on our way to Fez. We will arrive in the vibrant city around 6:00 PM, marking the conclusion of our tour.
